Netflix’s Newest Hit Movie Is This Trippy 2023 Thriller With a Harry Potter Star

Looking for a captivating movie to help you escape from reality for a bit?

How about an underrated thriller that will leave you wondering which way is up?

The 2023 movie Some Other Woman, starring Amanda Crew, Tom Felton and Ashley Greene, has risen from relative obscurity into Netflix’s Top 10 movie list this week.

The Watch With Us team is here to tell you why Some Other Woman is worth taking a second look at in October.

‘Some Other Woman’ Has a Disturbing Premise

Eve (Crew) is married to Peter (Felton), and the couple moves to a remote island for Peter’s work. What was meant to be a temporary, months-long stay turns into years, and as Eve struggles to adapt to life in their supposed “paradise,” something strange begins happening. She starts seeing another woman, Renata (Greene), popping up around their home — inserting herself into their lives as if she’s always been there. Soon, Eve stops recognizing her own reality, feeling as though Renata is trying to take her place.

Is there actually a conspiracy to replace Eve? Does Renata’s appearance have something to do with the mysterious island fable that Eve tells at the beginning of the film? Or is there something truly going wrong inside Eve’s head?

With both Hulu and Netflix dropping twist-laden premieres this month, October 2025 is shaping up to be a fantastic season for thriller fans. The Watch With Us team is especially excited […]

Some Other Woman is definitely a thriller, but which subgenre it falls under isn’t clear right away. Is it psychological? Supernatural? Horror? You don’t know what kind of story you’re in until you’re in the thick of it — and that’s part of what makes it so engrossing.

Before marrying Peter, Eve was building a career as a singer — she wasn’t highly successful, but she was doing what she loved. Throughout the film, she often daydreams about escaping the island and returning to the stage. She also yearns to have a baby with Peter and raise it closer to her family back in the U.S.

While Eve loves Peter, Some Other Woman raises questions about the consequences of putting your own life on hold for love. Could deferring your dreams actually drive you crazy? The movie uses Eve’s unraveling mental state to explore what happens when personal ambition and romantic devotion collide — and it’s both haunting and relatable.

Felton will always be known for playing Harry Potter baddie Draco Malfoy, a character who started overtly antagonistic but proved to have more layers by the end of the story. In Some Other Woman, he plays a similarly ambiguous character — Peter’s motives are often unclear.

Is he trying to protect Eve, or is he gaslighting her? Felton captures both menace and tenderness with subtle precision, keeping viewers guessing about whether Peter is a victim, a villain or something in between.
