TikTok was forced to sell to American owners to comply with a federal law. The transfer of ownership happened five days ago and we’re already seeing the effects of it.
There isn’t one new owner of TikTok but rather a collection of companies and investment firms, many of which have ties to Donald Trump.
Oracle has a 15% stake in TikTok. Oracle is owned by MAGA centibillionaire Larry Ellison. Larry’s son David is the new owner of Paramount and has quickly turned the company into MAGA propaganda, canceling Trump critic Stephen Colbert’s show and suppressing stories on 60 Minutes that were critical of the Trump administration (not to mention that Erika Kirk town hall). According to the New York Times, “Under the new TikTok agreement, Oracle will oversee the security of Americans’ data and monitor changes and updates to TikTok’s powerful recommendation technology.”
MGX has a 15% stake. They’re an investor in Elon Musk’s OpenAI company. MGX has been involved in at least two deals involving Trump. They were involved in a deal with the Trump family’s cryptocurrency firm last year. They also helped finance, along with Oracle, an AI data center initiative announced by Trump last year.
Silver Lake has a 15% stake. Silver Lake has ties to Oracle, MGX, and OpenAI. Other investors include Bytedance and Trump pal Michael Dell.
The new American stakeholders determine what content is allowed and Oracle stores all of TikTok user’s data.
Now this week, under its new ownership, topics critical of the Trump administration are being censored and suppressed and people are trying to sound the alarm. The word “Epstein” is banned and if you write it, your comment won’t show up.
Videos about ICE are being suppressed or glitched. I myself opened TikTok for and scrolled through and the two videos I saw that were about ICE began glitching after 2 seconds and wouldn’t play. Everyone in the comments were saying the same thing.
Finneas’ video about ICE was suppressed and glitched too. Billie posted a screenshot of it to her Instagram stories showing that it only had 114 likes, and people in the comments said they were unable to watch more than 2 seconds before it started glitching.
Gavin Newsome announced he will investigate whether TikTok is breaking the law. “It’s time to investigate. I am launching a review into whether TikTok is violating state law by censoring Trump-critical content.” he said

People have been able to get videos about ICE through if they speak in code.
A video of TikTok’s new CEO Adam Presser has resurfaced in which he says they are censoring the word “zionist” from the platform if it’s used in a negative way
TikTok also updated their privacy policy to say they will collect information about your immigration status, sexual orientation, and if you’re transgender.
This is just the latest in Trump and MAGA’s plan to buy up media properties in order to convert them into propaganda machines. Elon Musk bought Twitter and turned it into right-wing MAGA propaganda platform X three years ago and it was vital in the 2024 election in influencing people to vote for Trump. The Ellisons have bought up Paramount which owns CBS and once considered one of the most trusted news networks has quickly devolved into MAGA propaganda. They’re attempting to buy up WB to have an even large share of the market. The acquisition of TikTok is so much worse than Twitter. Twitter had around 230 million users, but TikTok has billions.
